Team by Team "Most Used" 5-Man Unit
We list the top ten most used units for each team on the respective team page (see for example the Kings 5-Man Units page), but one way to get a quick read on how well things are going for a team is by scanning the stats for the unit that's played the highest percentage of minutes. While these units are not always the starting five, they reflect who the coach is going to the most.
NOTES: The following table shows the average points scored on offense, and points allowed on defense per 48 minutes, and the "Net48" which is essentially a plus/minus for that unit on a per game basis. Each individual game the unit appears in is also rated as a Win or a Loss.

We'll be up front about it, we love what Don Nelson has done in building teams -- putting together some of the most entertaining rosters and running substitution patterns that go against "the rules." However, his fascination with playing for lineup mismatches may be bordering on stubborness at this stage. The top "most used unit" in terms of per 48 minute net plus/minus production is none other than the Dallas quintet of Nash-Finley-Jamison-Walker-Nowitzki. These guys have played a mere 6% of the total minutes for the Mavs, but are outscoring foes by 33 points "per game." Here's a suggestion: go with these guys for longer stretches! A 53% to 39% effective field goal percentage advantage doesn't strike us as a fluke.
There's a big drop-off from there to the next group of teams, but these units also play far more minutes which will certainly make maintaining a +33 edge downright impossible. The T'Wolves, Lakers, Nuggets and Pacers have all found strong go-to units that can take over games.
The Nets, Kings, Jazz, Spurs, and Rockets also look like powerhouse teams when the main players are on the floor, but with the Nets, Jazz, and Rockets the dropoff once the bench players come in seems pronounced and in need of addressing.
At the bottom end of the table you find the teams that might want to consider shaking up the starting lineup in favor of a new 5-man rotation.
